If

Before TMS, we were using a
basic accounting package which was fine for our accounting department,
but we had no computerized dispatching or scheduling and things
were very paper intensive.
Previously, we had to manually
assemble purchase order information, cost of goods, payables and
labor information for management reporting on profits. If you wanted
to know the profit of a service call or an inspection contract,
that would take anywhere from ten minutes to two hours (to assemble
and manually calculate the results.) If it was Wednesday and you
wanted to know the labor cost on a call slip, or a service job,
you had to calculate Mondays and Tuesdays labor cost
by hand. If you wanted to know what happened on a service call at
a customers site two weeks ago, you had to physically locate
a paper file folder, or worse yet, rely on someones memory.
This was not very productive.
